Biodiesel, what is it?

Biodiesel is a renewable fuel that has properties similar to home heating oil. In the United States it is usually made of soy but us also widely employed in Europe as well using rapeseed. Biodiesel is used commonly as a fuel for trucks and automobiles and can be acquired at some fueling stations or be made at home in some cases. Due to high oil prices and increasing uncertainty over the global political landscape in the coming years the United Stated has on all levels made alternative fuels a high priority. Because biodiesel has many properties similar to that of regular oil used for heating residential homes it is now being seen as one of the more practical alternatives available to the average American. Biodiesel is not pure vegetable oil or waste, but is created through a chemical process that separates oil from glycerin. Biodiesel is legally registered with the EPA and must conform to government standards.
